Michael Schmitz
President
Michael Schmitz co-leads Smart Building Technologies and is a Partner at Fidelity Building Services Group (Fidelity BSG). As one of the founders of Smart Building Technologies, Mike has spent over a decade building the company into an industry leader in building automation.
Mike has 30 years of industry experience with multiple generations and types of controls. In his leadership role at Smart Building Technologies, Mike provides oversight of day-to-day operations and administrative management of the company.
In 2020, Smart Building Technologies joined the Fidelity BSG national portfolio of companies, a partnership that builds on Mike’s vision for the organization to continue serving as the leader in building automation services throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
Mike graduated from Towson University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and earned his Commission as a 2LT, Infantry from the Loyola College ROTC program. He has holds various technical certifications from Distech Controls, Computrols, Cylon Auto-Matrix as well as other providers of building automation technology.
Mike Duley

Mike Duley is the Vice President of Service at Smart Building Technologies. In this role, Mike oversees all aspects of the company’s Service division, including strategic direction and growth, to ensure expansion, customer satisfaction, and the safety of field technicians.
Mike’s career with Smart Building Technologies began in 2013 when he joined the organization as a Systems Integrator and Programmer. He most recently served as a Service Manager, overseeing sales and operations while providing technical support to field personnel.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Mike is a proud graduate of Calvert Hall College High School and completed an apprenticeship with the Harford County Electrical Contractors Association. He holds a Maryland Master Electrician license and has earned prestigious and industry-leading certifications from companies including Tridium and Trend Controls.

Patrick Sims
Director of Service
Patrick Sims is the Director of Service - Field Operations at HVAC Concepts. He leads the organization’s service team by providing technical solutions, supervising technicians, and technical support to Team Members, ensuring workplace safety, and monitoring job site activity, maintenance, and repair sales.
Patrick joined HVAC Concepts in January 2020 as a Service Operation Coordinator, where he provided internal and external customer service, oversaw service fulfillment coordination, and performed administrative functions that supported efficient operations. Shortly after, he was promoted to the position of Project Manager, where he was responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and directing all aspects of assigned projects.
Before joining the HVAC Concepts team, Patrick was a Sales and Service Project Estimator for Facility Engineering Services. He secured new business opportunities that included increasing the company’s service segment regarding controls and HVAC/Mechanical. He exceeded sales goals for three consecutive years and served as the primary estimator for Erickson Living properties, one of the largest, most respected developers, operators, and managers of continuing care retirement communities in the country.
Patrick has completed various important industry-related training programs, including AHU Control Application training, Orca View OWS Software Delta Building Automation training, and Delta Access Controls training, among several others.
In addition to his technical education, Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Studies, with an emphasis on biblical literature, and a Master of Divinity degree from Grand Canyon University. A veteran, Patrick proudly served our country as a member of the United States Air Force.
Paul Meng
Vice President of Sales
Paul Meng co-leads Smart Building Technologies and is a Partner at Fidelity Building Services Group (Fidelity BSG). As a member of the Smart Building Technologies leadership team, Paul continues his guidance in pursuit of leading-edge technologies by developing Smart Building Technologies as a leader in integration of IoT and Cloud Based Systems. This first-to-market approach has permeated throughout Paul’s career and has helped produce industry accolades for Smart Building Technologies leading to recognition of numerous high-profile projects and professional services alike.
In 2020, Smart Building Technologies joined the Fidelity BSG national portfolio of companies, a partnership that builds on Paul’s vision for the organization to continue serving as the leader in building automation services throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Paul brings to his leadership role at Fidelity BSG over three decades of experience in building automation. His entrepreneurial vision is credited with helping companies achieve national and international growth.
Over the course of Paul’s career, he has served in numerous senior leadership/ownership roles, charged with facilitating company growth while advancing the market in the latest in emerging BAS technologies. Paul’s entrepreneurial vision has not only fueled company growth both nationally and internationally, but it has also driven industry-leading advances. These advances include co-development and/or early adaptation of the following systems:

Paul attended Meramec College in St. Louis, Missouri and University of Maryland University College. Throughout his career, Paul has stayed current with the latest systems and technologies, attending numerous continuing education classes within the industry and maintaining his expertise in the most recent products and services. Recognized in the industry for his accomplishments, Paul has been included in various advisory positions, consulting for OEM, Software Solutions, and peripheral companies alike.
Philip Redman
Vice President & Partner
Philip joined HVAC Concepts in 2006 and became partner in 2008. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in expanding the organization’s business and customer base which has resulted in significant growth in all sectors of the organization. Through his leadership, expertise and vision, Phil helped grow HVAC Concepts from a $3 million a year company to generating $15 million a year. Additionally, the team-member base has grown from 20 Team Members in 2006 to just over 70 today. Most importantly, because of his strong customers relationships, Phil helped grow the organization’s geographical footprint and now services customers who have locations all along the East Coast, including Boston and parts of Florida.
Today, as Vice President and Partner of HVAC Concepts, Phil oversees the organization’s sales force and ensures proper design of equipment to meet customers’ needs. Because of his background in writing/designing of building automation programs, Phil’s extensive knowledge of the industry has made him a trusted voice among HVAC Concepts’ clients. He understands not only the particulars of the industry but also the intricacies of HVAC Concepts, as he first started as a Monitoring Center Supervisor and then moved into sales.
Phil holds a Master HVAC license in Maryland and Virginia, as well as a Mechanical HVAC Journeyman license in Washington, D.C. In addition, Phil holds a 3rd class Steam Engineer license for Washington, D.C. and a 2nd class Steam Engineer license for Maryland.
